Lol. thanks for that. Maybe this raw one will appeal to you more... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2K0dqupSk8On the deads, can't ever envisage a 250. Not that I won't keep trying to improve, but I have to be realistic with my leg injury. Let's see a 200 this year, and if I ever see 500 lbs what a day that would be!

noddin my head in approval while watchin them benches power was throughout the lift,170 with good training looks to be there, thats if you knock the silly suit and partials on the head. its no wonder your shoulders f*cked. if you say you got a gammy leg, start your lift with your ar*e a couple of inches higher, it will put a bit more on your back but as your strong at the pull it wont hurt your lift. get a good mate to watch as you pull in different starting positions, if he says what you think, about the lift you`ve cracked it.

I've never injured my shoulders using a shirt. Felt some strain in the aftermath of a couple of heavy fails and that's about it. My shoulder injury happened while lifting raw in the gym and some vagina decided it would be fun to twist the bar as he passed it out to me. Shoulder ripped as I reacted to the bar movement. 17 months later it's virtually better! Us oldies heal slowly.
On deadlifts, just by walking onto the platform I succeed. The numbers are (almost) irrelevant. But I try to do my best and will take your advice on board. Thanks.

Bit late posting, due to a broken laptop. NW Raw Push Pull, Sunday 28th. Weighed in 100.1, ten minutes on cross trainer and a minute dribble and weighed in at 100.0 second time around.
Bench
Warm up 60 for 8 60 for 5 80 for 3 100 for 3 120 for 2 135 for 1
Platform
145 - 3 whites 155 - 3 whites 160 - 3 whites.
Deadlifts
Warm Up
60 for 5 100 for 3 140 for 2
Platform
170 - 3 whites 180 - 3 whites 190 - 3 whites.
Delighted with that. First time I've got a 160 bench since my shoulder injury, and I now feel I'm back in bench terms, esp since I didn't peak for this one. 190 deadlift was a pb. I won the Push/Pull overall in the 100 class - my first ever NW Senior title. Moz or Chris Edwards normally beat me! My bench was only 10 Kilos short of the best bench of the day, and a 190 deadlift is more than I could have dreamed of a few short months ago. And I was the oldest lifter there! All in all, a day to remember.

Today's workout at the ridiculously early hour of 10.00 am.
Deadlifts
60 for 5 100 for 3 140 for 3 x 3 sets
Bench
60 for 8 80 for 5 100 for 3 120 for 3 140 for 3 140 for 3 140 for 5.
Deads felt really heavy, so just enough to avoid getting weaker. Meant to do 3 x 3 on bench, but they were too easy so 5 reps on the last set. Rest up till Sunday now.

Lifted 'elsewhere' at the weekend, but although this is the GBPF forum I guess my log needs to reflect my actual lifting, so briefly:
Raw Bench 145 - good lift 160 - good lift 162.5 - lost it near the top.
Equipped Bench
180 - good lift 195 - good lift and new M3 World Record 202.5 - best lift of the 3, but ass came up so 3 reds. Now I know it's there, though...
Deadlift
170 - good lift 187.5 - good lift 197.5 - couldn't get it off the floor!
Came fifth in raw bench (winner 202.5, r up 200, 3rd 182.5, 4th `160 beat me on bodyweight). The 100s was a hell of a class, two guys going over 200 raw.
R up in equipped bench to Richard Whisker, who will become a well known name in the sport, mark my words. My 202.5 would have taken the lead if I had got it, but Richard nailed 210 third lift.
Deadlift, just nice to get a couple of lifts in in a national championship. Plenty of time to go away and work on it now before I lift next in October.
Nice to meet so many old friends again and to forge some new friendships.
No shoulder pain. I'm back!

Been on a week's holiday, got a little lifting in on Monday. Filming a documentary on wolfdogs, but they may put some of the lifting into the film as well.
Bench - normal warm up to 100, then 120 for 3, 140 for 1, shirt on and 160 for 3 (4 inches), 180 for 1 (4 inches), 190 for 1 to a touch. Pleased to get that off a break. Felt bloody heavy though.
Deads - 60 for 5, 100 for 3, 130 for 3, 150 for 1, 170 for 1.
The 130 deads might make Auntie's Bloomers, as each one included a rasping fart. They had given me a slap up lunch beforehand!

Bench Maintenance Day.
Usual Warm up to 100 120 for 3 140 for 5 140 for 5* 140 for 3 100 for 10
CGBP 70 for 3 80 for 3 90 for 3 100 for 3 110 for 3 120 for 3 130 for 1 140 for 1 100 for 10
Followed by a few sets of facepulls and a few sets of pressdowns.
* Planned five sets of whatever with 140 but just felt a grind on the first rep of set 2. Felt it again on set 3 so walked away. Nothing to gain from bravery on a maintenance day. First proper training session in over three weeks, so quite pleased with these numbers.

Good to know that it's not only me that does this! My biggest concern when competing is not will I get a lift in or even win, but will I or won't I let one rip...

Deadlifts today. First structured session since before the NW Push/Pull, and that was over a month ago!
70 for 5 x 2 sets 100 for 5 140 for 5 x 4 sets
Was meant to be five sets with 140, but I broke into a cold sweat on the 100 warm up set and just couldn't recover between sets on 140. If I'd have tried the fifth set I'd have keeled over. Probably not carbed up properly, plus the effects of not training deads properly for a few weeks, plus a sedentary day before training - or I'm in for a bug.
Finished off with 5 lightish sets of leg curls and the same with leg extensions and ab crunches. Tried seated rows but the tank was dry. End. Awful session, yet when you analyse it only one set short of the planned session. So maybe not as awful as it seemed...

No numbers to record tonight, just the fact that I did my first legs workout in 12 years. Leg press, leg extensions, leg curls, and calf raises. Lots and lots of reps with embarrassingly light weights. Might help my deadlifts, might finish me off, time will tell.

Weekly Bench Maintenance session.
Normal warm up to 100 120 for 3 140 for 4 140 for 3 140 for 3 140 for 3 140 for 3
CGPB 62.5 for 5 72.5 for 5 82.5 for 5 92.5 for 5 102.5 for 5 112.5 for 3 122.5 - fail wtf? 122.5 - fail wtf??
Finished with some triceps press and extension work.
Not making excuses, but the bench is awful, probably robs me of a rep per set. Confused by the CGPB fails. 10 kg less was easy, and I did 140 last week. Still, over for another week, zero shoulder pain, accept that maintenance (deload??) work is no good for the ego, and move on.

Happy days are here again... Just found a new gym to train in that's a reasonable commute! Good bars, good bench and a powerlifting friendly owner who wants to start up a powerlifting club. More details of that to follow when I've sorted a few things out. Meanwhile, deadlifts:
70 for 5 100 for 5 130 for 5 135 for 5 140 for 5 135 for 5 130 for 5.
Struggling on deads atm, maybe lacking motivation, I don't know, but I did what I set out to do. Not scheduled to bench today, but had to try out the bench and bar so:
60 for 8 60 for 5 80 for 5 100 for 5 120 for 3 130 for 1 140 for 1 150 for 1 100 for 10.
Bar and bench felt good, every rep easy. What a relief.

An unscheduled bench session to try out the SK for size.
Warm up to 100 120 for 3 140 for 2
Shirt on
180 to 8 inches - not even near a touch! 200 to 8 inches - ditto ffs.
Man that's one brute of a shirt. Just about got it on, but taking hands out to pinkie grip width was a struggle. Think I need an oompa loompa to break it in for me. Thought I'd finish with a few raw singles.
140 for 1 - easy. 150 for 1 - just, so left it there.
A few facepulls to finish.
Great gym, great atmosphere, really looking forward to doing a peaking programme there. Before that, one more week of chilling.

If that is a super kat, then it is probably too small. One have to get away from the old school of thinking tighter is always better with the super katanas. However , Good luck working it. It'd be interesting to see how you get on.
