Hi Jim,
Can you explain what the current situation is within Scotland? Are there now 2 groups of lifters competing under IPF rules, those that register with GBPF and those that have remained with Scottish Powerlifting? I assume that lifters electing to register with GBPF can still compete in Scottish Powerlifting events, as long as they also register with SP, with no threat of sanction? Where does this place Scottish Special Olympic lifters who usually only compete in their own regional events ?

Brian Baker responded to my question on this thread, but his response is no longer here. Does that mean it has been removed by the moderator.

Thanks Brian,
However I have just received an email from Andy Clegg ( Fri 5/3/10) which advises of the 2010 Competition Program for Scottish Powerlifting. As all of the Officials in Scotland are IPF qualified and the comps are held under IPF rules and guidelines, then it appears that there will be 2 organisations operating under IPF rules in Scotland. The membership form clearly states that SP members who wish to compete in GBPF events will also require to register with GBPF, which I think was the situation previously.

You have chosen the same day as our competition also in Glasgow. That's not very helpful for anybody - we'll both get fewer lifters / helpers, etc. Though I can't say I'm surprised. May the best competition win .... BTW - had a great comp today, good crowd in to watch some excellent lifting.
